While we love catering weddings, we also love the chances we get to cater other less common events, like the retirement party we did for Clark and his family. Clark was a mechanical engineer for 40 years and had a spectacular career. So of course, when you leave that career and start down the relaxing path of retirement, you deserve a big party with the friends and family you love! It’s events like this that remind us why we love catering in Utah.
The party was held at a private residence in Bountiful. The home had a swimming pool, so of course it was the highlight of the evening. Cannon ball contest anyone? While guests swam and played lawn games, we had a spectacular buffet set up on the patio. This wasn’t your typical hotdog and hamburger buffet. No, we went all out with every topping imaginable. Guests had a fun time putting together their perfect burger. There were burgers like the candied bacon, pickled jalapeno and blue cheese burger or the one that was gouda, cheddar and swiss. Yes, all three types of cheeses on one burger. There is never a dull moment when you are catering in Utah!
Besides the burger and hot dog extravaganza, we also had potato salad, spinach salad and pasta salad. There was also an Italian cream soda bar that was especially popular with the kids. For dessert, we provided a large sheet cake that said, “Happy Retirement Clark!” Usually we provide the cake for a wedding reception, but since this wasn’t a wedding reception and it was a retirement party, we went ahead and provided the cake free of charge. It’s our way of thanking the hosts for giving us their business.
Once everyone was served and satisfied, we quickly packed up, cleaned up and left. The party was still raging at 9:00 at night. Clark has some of the funnest friends and family and we felt lucky to be able to help them celebrate someone so important in their lives.
