Where it all began
Rockwell Catering’s chef and owner Ethan Ingram grew up working for his family’s catering company in Southern California. Many weekends had him doing dishes to make extra cash for going on dates. As he grew older, he became more involved in the food and event preparation and eventually on the sales side. He became familiar with every facet of running a catering business. Whether it was dish duty, staff hiring, sales or food prep, he was able to get hands-on experience that many people would pay for. He found his true passion lied with the food. Preparing food that people love can be addicting! There are few things more satisfying than happy customers at the end of a busy event. From his family’s business, he set out to train under great chefs and have experience in commercials kitchens.
Outside of his family’s catering business, he was able to work with Chef Mike Reyes, who is a culinary teacher and personal chef in the Los Angeles area. There is nothing like being thrown into a busy kitchen to get your sea legs! In Utah, Ethan worked as a kitchen manager at Rio Tinto Stadium for concerts and most importantly, GAME DAYS! There are few kitchens more exciting than the one at Rio Tinto. And Ethan especially loved the availability of just about any ingredient he could want.
Alongside those experiences, Ethan has been able to help in various charity capacities. Groups like the Road Home homeless shelter in Salt Lake City and St. Vincent’s human services. Food should be a basic right and Ethan believes strongly in that.
New beginnings
Rockwell Catering was born and raised in Utah. Everything started very slow, acquiring new equipment with each new event. A serving bowl here, a chafing dish there. Little by little, things grew and cooler, bigger accounts were obtained. Those first few years were definitely growing years. Growing in experience, know-how and crisis management. If you ask Ethan now about how to manage certain bumps in the road during an event, he will tell you he has seen it all. Toppled wedding cake? Shortage of servers? 100 more people attending than expected? Ethan has really seen it all. And has been able to come out the other end wiping the beads of sweat on his forehead and smiling.
When it comes to kitchens to work out of, Rockwell Catering has been all over Utah County and Salt Lake County. We have been through commissary kitchens, rental-by-the-hour kitchens, empty restaurant kitchens and more. We are super pleased to be where we are now, right in the heart of Salt Lake Valley, close to our suppliers and the freeways.

Rockwell Catering joined the other catering companies in Utah in 2009 and since then, we have produced hundreds and hundreds of events while staying true to our Southern California roots.
